Just the website, done right

Not every business needs AI. Every business needs a site that gets found.

Your referrals Google you before they call. If your phone is already handled and what you’re missing is a professional presence online, this is it: a custom site, fast on a phone, built to be found on Google and understood by ChatGPT and Gemini when someone asks who does your service nearby.

No contract. The website and the domain are yours.

The real problem

You don’t have a website problem. Customers can’t find you.

The referral that leakedA happy customer gives your name to a neighbor. That neighbor googles you before calling, and finds an outdated Facebook page, or nothing at all. So they call the company that did show up. You lost a job that was already yours, and you never even knew.
The rollercoaster monthsWord of mouth is real, but it’s not predictable. One strong month, one dead month, and nothing working to bring new people in while you’re out doing the work. That anxiety in the slow weeks isn’t a marketing problem. It’s the absence of a machine.
Losing to worse companiesYou know a competitor who does sloppier work, charges more, and stays booked. Because he shows up first when people search. When quality is invisible, visibility wins. Every time.
Burned beforeMaybe you already paid for a site once. It went up, nothing happened, you quietly stopped paying. A site that doesn’t rank isn’t a website. It’s a business card nobody ever sees.

What you need isn’t “a website.” It’s being the answer when someone nearby asks who does what you do.

Why it matters now

Half of what AI says about you comes from your own site.

Your customer stopped typing into Google. They ask an assistant who does the work near them. When those models build an answer, between 41% and 52% of the information comes from the company’s own website, and the rest from directories and local profiles. A thin site or no site means the AI has nothing to cite, so it cites your competitor instead.

What’s included

The whole site, built for your business

Pages built to win your cityNot one generic page. Service pages for what you do, where you do it: “pool cleaning Kissimmee”, “tile work The Villages”. That URL pattern is what Google rewards in local search, and most of your competitors don’t have it.
Two new articles every week, under your nameFresh content about your trade and your city, written and published for you twice a week, every week. Sites that keep posting outrank sites that sit still. This is what the monthly actually buys.
Google Business Profile managedPosts, photos, hours and answers kept current every month, on both plans. The map results, where most local jobs are won, are decided there.
Missed calls answered by textYou’re on a ladder, the phone rings, you can’t pick up. The caller gets a text back within seconds and the AI keeps the conversation going until you’re free. Most lost jobs die in exactly that gap.
An AI chat that actually answersA visitor asks “do you do X?” at 9pm and gets a real answer about your business in seconds, then leaves name and phone, which hit your cell by text. Nobody browses your site and leaves without a trace.
Recommended by AIClear pages about what you do and where, plus the structured data search engines read, so Google and AI assistants like ChatGPT and Gemini can understand your business when someone asks who does your trade nearby. Set up at launch and kept current.
A monthly report you can readEvery month, an email: calls and quote requests from your site, your Google profile views and calls, and what we published. Plain numbers, no dashboard screenshots.

Before you decide

Which problem do you actually have?

There are two completely different failures in a local business, and they need opposite fixes. Buying the wrong one is expensive.

“The phone barely rings.”Work comes from referrals, repeat customers and the truck. When somebody new searches for your trade, they find three other companies and never find you.An AI receptionist would sit there all month waiting for a phone that doesn’t ring. You don’t have an answering problem. You have an existing problem. This page is your fix.
“It rings and I can’t keep up.”The phone goes off while you’re under a sink. You call back at seven and they already hired somebody else. You’re losing jobs you already earned.A prettier website doesn’t fix that. People are already finding you. You need someone answering, every time. That’s the AI receptionist.

An AI receptionist can’t answer a phone that isn’t ringing.

That’s why I don’t sell the expensive system to everyone. For most small local businesses the honest first move is to become findable, and that costs a fraction of what an AI system costs to run every month.

And nothing gets wasted later. If the phone starts ringing more than you can handle, that’s a good problem, and the AI plugs straight into the site you already own. You never pay for the same work twice.

Investment

One price to build it. Two ways to keep it working.

Build$1,500one time
  • Complete custom site
  • Copy written to sell, not to fill space
  • Your photos edited and placed
  • Google Business profile organized
  • Live in days, not months
Website Care$197/mocancel anytime
  • Google Business Profile kept current: posts, photos, hours, answers
  • Two new articles a week about your trade and city
  • Ongoing SEO, AEO and GEO
  • Hosting, domain, text and photo changes
  • A monthly email report: calls and quote requests from your site, your Google profile views and calls, and what we published
  • Direct support from me, by text
Website Care + AI$297/mocancel anytime
  • Everything in Website Care
  • Missed calls answered by text in seconds

Why there’s a monthly: a site left alone goes stale and slides off Google. The maintenance is what keeps it fast, current and showing up. Cancel whenever you want, the site and domain stay yours.

Straight answers

What owners ask before they hire

How much does a website cost for a small service business? With Medalist it is $1,500 to build, one time, plus $197 a month for Website Care or $297 a month for Website Care + AI. The build fee and the first month are charged together at checkout. The build covers the design, the copy, your photos edited and placed, service and city pages, and your Google Business Profile organized.
How much does a website cost per month, and what should the monthly cover? Here it is $197 a month: hosting, your domain, text and photo changes, your Google Business Profile kept current, two new articles a week about your trade and your area, ongoing SEO, and a monthly report of the calls and quote requests the site brought in. The $297 plan adds missed calls answered by text in seconds and an AI chat on your site. If a monthly fee only pays for hosting, that is rent, not service.
Do I need a website if my work comes from referrals?Usually yes, because many referred customers Google your name before they call. The site is where they check that you are real: your photos, your reviews, your license and the area you serve. It does not replace referrals. It gives them a reason not to call the next name on the list.
Is a Google Business Profile enough, or do I need a website too?The profile puts you on the map and holds your reviews. The website is where people go to decide, and it is one of the places Google and AI assistants read to describe what you do. They work best linked to each other, so Website Care keeps both current.
Can my business show up on Google Maps if I work from home?Yes, as a service-area business. If you go to the customer and don't receive customers at home, Google asks you to hide the address and show the area you serve instead. P.O. boxes and mailing-only virtual offices are not accepted. We organize the profile as part of the build; Google's verification step is done by you, and we walk you through it.
Why not just build it myself on Wix or Squarespace? You can, and they are good tools if you want to run the site yourself. The tool is the easy part. The work is writing the pages, editing the photos, keeping the Google profile updated and publishing articles every week. The monthly here pays for someone doing that work, not for the tool.
Is Angi or Thumbtack better than having my own website? They do different jobs. On lead sites you pay for leads or ads on their platform, and the customer finds you through them. Your website and your Google profile are in your name, and they are where people check you before they call. Plenty of owners use both.
Who owns the website and the domain if I cancel? You do. There is no contract and no minimum term: the plan renews monthly until you cancel, by text, email or the billing portal, and cancelling takes effect at the end of the paid month with no fee. We hand over the site files and the domain within 15 days of your request, and the site stays online for 30 days so you can move it.
How long does it take to build?A few days after you send the details and the photos. You approve everything before a single page goes live.
What if I already have a website? We look at what you have. If it can be improved, we improve it. If starting over is honestly the better move, we will tell you so.
Will a new website guarantee more calls? No, and be careful with anyone who promises that. Nobody controls Google or AI assistants. What you get is the work, done every month, and a monthly report that shows the calls and quote requests the site brought in, so you can judge it yourself.
Do I need the AI receptionist? No. The website plans stand on their own. In the $297 plan the AI answers in writing: the chat on your site and a text when you miss a call. The AI receptionist is a separate service, a voice that picks up the phone, and you can add it later. See the AI receptionist.
